So, we ended up playing King Robert The Bruce at Turnberry on the way up, Jamie played at Leven in the Junior Open on the Monday, nice 8th placed finish in a very strong field of local and international golfers, then stopped at Anstruther on the way back to St Andrews for a quick nine.
Tuesday we were hosted at Aberdour – some really good holes especially down by the sea, and the course was in fantastic condition – then on Wednesday we opted to play The Kittocks course at Fairmont – free for Jamie and £180 for myself – it was absolutely amazing. I appreciate most people are drawn to the St Andrews Links courses but the Fairmont set up is top notch – we’ll definitely go back there.We lived on the Costa Blanca for 3 years, and I think the golf there is underrated. Lots of good courses in both the Alicante and Murcia regions. It’s cheap to eat and drink, and there are so many flight options to get there you’re spoilt for choice.
We were out there a couple of weeks back, played Las Ramblas, La Finca, and Las Colinas which I’d rate as one of the best courses I’ve ever had the privilege to play.
Think I might take a punt on some Takomos, not heard anyone give them a bad review.
Need to upgrade Jamies irons as well, his were bent 2 degrees flat when he was smaller but he’s outgrown them now. I bet if I treat myself to some Takomos, he nabs them off me…
