Participantwood is a great club, I got one almost two years ago best golf purchase I’ve made. Mine was a Ping G430 new . But a s Liam has said you don’t necessarily need to buy new or the latest model. There should be good value previous generation models available from all the brands. You’ll be glad you got one.

ParticipantI assume Bank Holiday in UK last week so the edit team we’re off on Monday and missed Friday cut off ? You’re entitled to your day off like everyone else !

ParticipantHi Matthew, not sure about Takomo but most of big brand’s 7 woods are 21 deg. I got a Ping G430 7 wood beginning of 2024 best decision I ever made.

ParticipantIf you based yourself in the Dublin area could play the likes of Seapoint and Arklow, (both good links and reasonably priced) and a multitude of parklands to chose from. No urgency in booking these as not the same demand. Can still put together a memorable trip on good courses to fit your budget.

ParticipantMy favourite series was N Ire 2024 (Simon and Mr Booom) and episode was City of Derry GC when Liam put a ball on the clubhouse roof.

ParticipantCould fly into Shannon, play Lahinch, Trump Doonbeg, Dromoland and Portumna (both excellent parklands). Use Galway based Lyons Links to book. Hope this helps

ParticipantProbably best to use a reputable Tour Operator. What part of Ireland is your preference, what budget have you set. These Q’s are relevant as the premier links courses are expensive (€300+) and are heavily booked. If you want to play the top links courses you nee to book asap as 75% of 2026 tee times are already booked but there should be availability in May. FYI I’m a member of one pf these premier links in the SW.

ParticipantI agree great clubs with a bit of forgiveness built in, mine are 520 and 58.

ParticipantIf you play cavity back irons it makes sense to use cavity back wedges as I do. I switched from vokey (blade style) to Cleveland CBX (forgiving) and my striking and distance control became much more consistent. I carry just two specialist wedges 52 and 58 which is plenty for me as I can cover a range of yardages by varying tempo and length of swing.
