ParticipantMASSIVE KUDOS to Liam, Graham and all the gang at Carus Green who hosted a fantastic golf day for all the GolfMates this weekend.
Take a bow ladies and gentlemen 👏Carus Green was in impeccable order throughout and was a joy to play – so much so myself and Ryan my mate who I played with are already in talks of another trip up this year.
Prior to Carus I had the upmost of f*cking pleasure of playing at Lancaster on my way up on the Saturday. Now that is some proper hidden gem of a golf course. By Jove was that in good nick. If you like views, lush fairways and quick greens, and a fantastic clubhouse then it’s well worth a visit. Lots of views taking in Morecambe Bay (a few were sliced in that direction), the South Lakes towards Barrow in Furness and the Yorkshire Dales.
Next stop was the Travelodge on the M6 where Ryan and I stopped for the night, Burger King for tea, and then a couple of beers for the room! The clubs were cleaned at night but little sleep was had, the excitement was uncontainable. Plus it was f*cking hot. Oh, and apparently there were prostitutes knocking on the doors of the truck drivers’ Lorries in the early hours. Shame I had a view out the back and not the front!!
Then Carus Green, as above. A few bevvies were consumed and a jolly good donner kebab afterwards. Which caused a lot of farting and unsettled stomachs. In other words, the sh*ts.
After Carus, I mooched about in Kendal to ease the woes of last nights activities, walk off the kebab and explore the gaff. A thriving Cumbrian town.
I then got on the road towards Windermere. Bought a new jumper and some trousers in Bowness and stocked up on supplies for the next two nights.Monday afternoon – checked in at my shepherds hut and crashed out
Tuesday – weather was shit, wet and chilly, got out for a walk at Aira Force and met relatives at Ullswater.Wednesday – hit the road from Patterdale at 0830 and got to Warrington GC
Fantastic day with highly esteemed Golfmates Patrick Traynor, all the way from Canada, Peter Keen and Dave Brougham from York (ay up!!) Warrington is a quirky course with a range of holes – there are no flat lies! Again lots of nice views towards Manchester, Liverpool, north wales hills, Widnes power station etcThat concluded my long weekend to the north west. Arrived home at 19:40. Down to earth with a bang tomorrow
